I was at a Retail Merchants Association coffee, and Laurie said to the crowd in general, “There are a lot of small business owners who would like to do social media, but they don’t know how.” So I went home and told Mike, “Hey. You’re working for me now.” “Oh?” he said. “What am I doing?”
And that is how SingleTree Media, LLC, started on the road to being one of the premier social media marketing consulting and management companies out here.
Both Mike and I like to help people improve themselves and their businesses, and this is a great fit for us. Michael has an undergraduate degree in journalism plus a masters degree in business administration, with over a decade of experience in video production and photography.
My masters degree is in broadcasting, and my Ph.D. is in instructional technology. I taught both undergraduate and graduate communications at a university for over two decades and have another decade of media work in the “real” world. Mike began “helping me” with my media work when he was two years old. Now he is very competent in his own right in many areas including business start-ups, but especially in how to use social media to gain the greatest impact.
I think we have a lot to offer to business owners who want to take advantage of the benefits of social media. After all, business owners have three choices: 1) you can try to gain 30 or 40 or 50 years of experience similar to what we have and do social media yourself, 2) you can hire someone for $40,000 per year to do all that we can do for you, or 3) you can work with us for a whole lot less money. We are really quite affordable considering what it could cost you not to engage the social media demographic.
Which leads me to the fact that you do have a fourth choice. You can choose to let your competitors gain far more credibility, “good will,” and reach than you have in the huge audience that frequents social media. To make that choice you only need to choose to do nothing.
